Understanding Vape Terminology: A Glossary for New Vapers
The world of vaping comes with its own set of terms. If you're new to vaping, this glossary will help you understand some of the common language used:
- E-liquid (or Vape Juice): The liquid that is heated to produce vapour.
- PG (Propylene Glycol): One of the main base liquids in e-liquids, known for carrying flavour and providing a "throat hit."
- VG (Vegetable Glycerin): The other main base liquid, responsible for producing thicker vapour.
- Nicotine Strength: The amount of nicotine in an e-liquid, usually measured in milligrams per milliliter (mg/mL).
- Coil: The heating element in your vape device that vaporizes the e-liquid.
- Atomizer: The part of the vape device that contains the coil and heating chamber.
- Tank/Pod: The container that holds the e-liquid.
- Ohm (Ω): A unit of electrical resistance used to measure the resistance of a coil. Lower ohms generally produce more vapour.
- Mouth-to-Lung (MTL): A vaping style where you draw vapour into your mouth before inhaling it into your lungs, similar to smoking a traditional cigarette.
- Direct-to-Lung (DTL): A vaping style where you inhale the vapour directly into your lungs.
Understanding these terms will make it easier to navigate the world of vaping and choose the right products for your needs.
